Here I show how you can replace the pickup shoes on your Carrera slot car.
It’s not difficult, you just have to know how.
These ones are clearly in bad shape…
You can simply pull them off, tho gently.
They’re held in place by friction.
First, loosen one side a bit; here, I’m showing the front as an example.
(I’m using tweezers for clarity in the photo, but you can also just use your fingers.)
Then pull off the other side of the pickup shoe in the same way.
Then simply pull it out like this.
The new pickup shoes.
They’re often included in your car’s box, behind a small flap at the back of the raised section.
Otherwise, they’re sold in a set with 8 pickup shoes and 2 guides: Carrera 20366.

If you align the new one with the holes, you can push it in with some force.
If that doesn’t work, you can do it side by side, just like when removing it.
Then you can bend the front contact strip slightly backwards and fan it out a bit.
This increases the contact surface.
Make sure they are angled upwards, that way they’ll press properly onto the track.
Of course, repeat this for the other pickup shoe.

Back on the track with fresh pickup shoes.
